About the role

 

As an AP Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading and developing our Accounts Payable team while ensuring efficient, compliant, and high-quality AP operations across several Mediq entities in Europe.

 

This role combines operational leadership with a strong focus on continuous improvement, stakeholder management, process governance, and people development. You will play a key role in driving service excellence, ensuring delivery against agreed SLAs and KPIs, and supporting the ongoing optimization and automation of AP processes.

 

You will work closely with Finance, Procurement, General Ledger teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient end-to-end accounts payable operations.

 

This position is a maternity cover.

 

Key Responsibilities – What are you going to do?

 

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Accounts Payable team, supporting both performance and professional growth.
  • Foster a collaborative, motivating, and high-performing team environment.
  • Manage team capacity and workload allocation based on business priorities and operational needs.
  • Oversee day-to-day AP operations, including invoice processing, payments, expense claims, and vendor reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, payment terms, financial controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and support month-end and year-end closing activities related to Accounts Payable.
  • Monitor and drive performance against agreed service levels, KPIs, and operational targets.
  • Manage escalations and resolve complex invoice, payment, and vendor-related issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.

 

Qualifications and Skills – What is your background?

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience within Accounts Payable, Accounting, or Finance operations.
  • Previous experience in a team lead, supervisor, or people management role.
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes, financial controls, and accounting principles.
  • Experience working in an international and complex business environment; Shared Service Centre experience is considered an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP or IFS.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyse financial and operational data.
  • Experience managing payment processes, controls, reconciliations, and exception handling.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.

Monthly Salary:

 

Monthly base salary for this position is from 3,500 - 4,400 EUR gross. The final offer will depend on your qualifications, competencies, leadership experience, and professional background.
