Finance Director - UK

Mediq is looking for a new Finance Director UK&I that will oversee the finance and accounting functions. The individual will play a key role in the UK&I senior leadership team and will be acting as a business partner to the Managing Director of the UK&I. The individual will provide operational and strategic support to Mediq UK&I and contribute to the company’s growth strategies and day-to-day decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
· As a Member of the Senior Leadership Team of the UK&I, the Finance Director will contribute to the overall leadership, direction setting, and strategic development of Mediq Healthcare UK Limited.
· Lead the finance function for the region, including responsibility for the underlying infrastructure, i.e., people, systems, processes, and procedures.
· Ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and meaningful financial information and provide finance leadership for the company, ensuring key business and operational decisions are supported by rigorous financial analysis.
· Lead the region's accounting and financial reporting function to ensure an exceptional level of timeliness, accuracy, reliability, and risk management.
· Drive functional transformation, where needed, in relation to process improvements, the digital journey and improving business insights and dashboarding, to bring focus to business discussions.
· Ensure the delivery of meaningful information and insights that contribute to management decision making and provide necessary visibility to senior management, employees, investors, the Board, and Executive Committee.
· Leading or supporting all finance aspects of merger and acquisition processes, including the post-merger integration. Responsible for the (financial) integration of the already acquired entities.
· Provide mentoring, coaching and development to realise individual and group potential, in accordance with the Mediq Finance Operating Model (FP&A, Business Partners, Finance Operations & Financial Control)
· Ensure the delivery of strong results, and building solid high performance track record, work with scenarios and an active Risks and opportunities assessment for the coming periods, together with the SLT of Mediq UK..
· Take an active role in people development, ensuring the finance skills are aligned to the needs of the business, and make appropriate changes where necessary to ensure a sustainable team.
· Business partner with the management team, build knowledge and understanding of the market, the healthcare industry, insurers, and key competitors.
· Connect the dots between business strategy, financial strategy, and the communication of that strategy to maximise value for shareholders.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be a trusted partner to the MD UK&I and to the senior leaders of the business. You will possess significant experience of working in a matrix structure across international businesses and are used to scale and complexity and can contribute to the further growth of the company.
A solid base of accounting, combined with commercial finance experience is important in the current phase of our commercial growth. With a strong drive and natural curiosity, the new Finance Director will have a predisposition to roll up their sleeves and help design and guide the teams to ‘deliver at pace’.
In addition to the ability to see the bigger picture, you will need to have the drive to deep dive into detail. A strong communicator, co-create the UK business strategy and help drive execution. You will easily connect with others in all cross-functional layers of the company and are able to navigate the matrix of Mediq.
· Masters degree in a financial or accounting discipline
· Have In-depth understanding of topline growth, gross margins, opex, EBITDA & Cashflows, EBITDA and knows how to analyse and use the data. Ideally combined with a solid accounting background.
· Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
· Understanding consumer products and distribution segments is helpful. Ideally also have experience with digital services.
· Experience of working within the UK healthcare market either as a customer or a supplier would be an advantage
· Experience with ERP implementations, Finance Transformation and digitalization in finance
· Attention to detail as well as big picture focus
· Business driven, entrepreneurial, hungry for success - focused on outcomes
