IT Operations Manager

Mediq are recruiting for a IT Operations Manager to be based at our HQ in Castle Donington. The IT Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the IT department, ensuring the stability, reliability, and security of the organization's IT infrastructure. This includes managing the IT Service Desk operations and teams.
There will be a requirement for some domestic travel to other UK sites and occasional travel to other Cluster countries.
There will be the requirement to occasionally work outside of regular business hours to address IT emergencies or projects and some weekend working (once per month)
Salary - £60,000 - £70,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the service desk team to deliver exceptional technical support to internal users, ensuring prompt resolution of IT issues. Implementing best practices and driving continuous improvement to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
- IT Infrastructure: Oversee the maintenance, support, and optimization of all IT systems, including servers, networks, and applications. Ensure the infrastructure is secure and compliant with industry standards.
- Server and Application Patching: Ensure regular updates and patches are applied to servers and applications to maintain security and functionality. Coordinate with relevant teams to schedule and implement these updates.
- Project Management: Plan, execute, and manage IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Coordinate with other departments to identify and implement technology solutions.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure that service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Ensure the organization can quickly recover from any IT-related disruptions.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure all IT operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Ensure alignment with corporate and cluster policies, procedures, service levels and defined process, to contribute to the standardization of IT.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyse the performance of IT systems and services. Identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
What are we looking for?
You will be working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, this is a hands-on role working with a small UK team but working closely with colleagues in Group IT based across Europe so we are looking for a candidate with strong leadership skills who has the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. ITIL Foundation or higher certification
- Experience in IT management, with a proven track record of leading and managing IT teams in a service led environment
- Strong knowledge of ITIL framework and best practices
- Proficiency with service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, TopDesk, Jira, or similar platforms).
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and applications. Familiarity with cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
