Supply Chain Apprentice 

Mediq UK are a supplier of healthcare consumables, healthcare equipment, cleaning, and hygiene products, as well as healthcare devices to hospitals, care homes, and other facilities serving the healthcare sector in the UK.

We are looking for a Supply Chain apprentice to join our Operations team.

The Supply Chain Apprentice will support the day-to-day operational and analytical activities of the Supply Chain function. The role is designed to develop foundational knowledge in demand planning, inventory management, and customer service while providing critical administrative and analytical support to ensure effective supply chain performance.

You will play a key role in maintaining reporting cadence, monitoring stock and backorders, and supporting the team in managing increasing operational workload.

This is an office based role, working from our Mediq UK site in Castle Donington.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role where organisation, accuracy, and attention to detail are essential.

You will:

Operational Reporting & Monitoring

  • Review and action daily operational reports, ensuring issues are highlighted and escalated where required
  • Maintain and update supply chain dashboards and trackers
  • Support timely execution of reporting cycles (daily / weekly / monthly)
  • Overdue orders (OSPO 1–3 days) monitoring and follow-up
  • Excess stock and surplus order tracking (Cockpit reports)
  • Daily excess stock reporting and analysis
  • MDS backorder report updates, including commentary and status tracking

 

Inventory & Stock Management Support

  • Monitor inventory levels and identify excess or slow-moving stock
  • Support excess stock management and returns process
  • Assist in monthly Y-category (slow/non-moving stock) reviews
  • Work with the team to improve stock visibility and data accuracy

 

Backorder & Customer Service Support

  • Assist in managing customer backorders (BOs) and service levels
  • Update and maintain customer service BO reports
  • Support weekly reporting for key customers (e.g. Ramsay reports – Top 20, critical lines, full BO reports)
  • Liaise with Customer Service and Supply teams to resolve order issues

 

Communication & Coordination

  • Manage and respond to Supply Chain inbox queries (e.g. EMDC & Larne)
  • Coordinate follow-ups on outstanding actions across teams
  • Support cross-functional communication between Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Operations

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and data quality
  • Support simplification and standardisation of processes
  • Assist in reducing manual workload through better use of tools and data

 

Development Opportunity

  • This role is part of a structured apprenticeship programme and will provide exposure to:
  • Supply Chain Planning (Demand & Inventory)
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • ERP and planning systems
  • Cross-functional stakeholder management

Salary - £25,000
