Transport Supervisor – Castle Donington

We are recruiting for a Transport Supervisor to join our Transport operation in Castle Donington. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the transport department during their shift. This role ensures that all transport activities are carried out efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with safety regulations. The Transport Supervisor coordinates with drivers, supervises the loading and unloading of goods, and ensures timely deliveries to meet customer requirements.
Salary - £34,000
Responsibilities:
Shift Management:
- Oversee the transport operations during the assigned shift.
- Allocate resources and assign tasks to drivers and transport staff.
- Monitor and manage shift schedules to ensure adequate staffing.
Operational Coordination:
- Coordinate with the warehouse and dispatch teams for timely loading and unloading of goods.
- Controlling the marshalling of the EMDC and confirming each load is safe and stable
- Address any issues or delays in the transport process promptly, and communicating
- Ensure that all deliveries and pickups are completed as scheduled.
Team Supervision:
- Supervise and support drivers and transport staff during the shift.
- Conduct briefings and debriefings at the start and end of shifts.
- Handle performance management, training, and development of the team.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and company policies.
- Promote and enforce health and safety standards within the transport department.
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections and ensure maintenance schedules are followed.
Customer Service:
- Maintain high levels of customer service by ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Address customer complaints and resolve any transport-related issues.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery statuses.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of transport activities, including logs and reports.
- Analyse transport data and generate reports for management review.
- Ensure proper documentation of incidents, accidents, and maintenance activities.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in transport operations and implement solutions.
- Work with the transport manager to develop and implement cost-saving strategies.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
What are we looking for?
- Certificate of Professional competence (desirable or willing to undertake the training to complete).
- Good understanding of Road Networks throughout the United Kingdom
- Competent in all Microsoft applications
- Good understanding of Telematics
- Route scheduling
- Able to work on own or as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Cross border thinking / working with other operational departments to achieve all targets
