Job Description
Global Data Governance Manager
Posting Start Date:  3/3/26

At Mediq, we believe high-quality data is essential for delivering better healthcare outcomes and enabling sustainable growth. As our new Global Data Governance Manager, you will build and lead our enterprise-wide data governance capability from the ground up.

This is a highly visible and strategic role where you define the governance vision, operating model, and accountability structure that ensures our master and critical transactional data is consistently defined, properly owned, secure, compliant, and fit for business use across all countries and functions. You will work at the intersection of business and IT, embedding governance into processes, ERP systems, and transformation initiatives worldwide.

What are you going to do?

You will design and implement Mediq’s global Data Governance framework from scratch. This includes defining principles, policies, standards, decision rights, RACI models, and escalation paths. You will establish and chair governance bodies such as Data Councils and domain councils, formalize data ownership and stewardship roles, and create key governance assets including the business glossary, critical data elements, classification standards, and lifecycle rules.

You will define and drive the global Data Quality strategy, including dimensions, thresholds, KPIs, and scorecards. You will implement structured monitoring routines and an end-to-end issue management process covering detection, triage, root cause analysis, remediation, and prevention. Working closely with business and IT stakeholders, you ensure recurring issues are structurally resolved and preventive controls are embedded.

You will partner with ERP teams (ideally SAP, with exposure to IFS as a plus) to embed governance requirements into system design, integrations, validations, and workflows. Governance must be part of change demand intake, solution design, testing, data migration, cutover, and hypercare. You ensure consistent master and reference data rules across systems and interfaces.

As a global change leader, you act as the senior point of contact for data governance. You build and enable a strong stewardship community, provide training and communication materials, and support Data Owners and Stewards in fulfilling their responsibilities. You facilitate alignment across functions and countries, manage conflicting priorities, and ensure escalations are handled transparently and effectively.

You will also establish governance KPIs and maturity measures, providing executive-level reporting on progress, risks, and improvement opportunities. Through a phased roadmap, you will continuously raise governance maturity across domains and countries.

What is your background?

You hold a Master’s degree in IT, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.

You bring 8–15 years of relevant experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, MDM, Data Management, or enterprise-wide data programs. Most importantly, you have proven experience setting up Data Governance from scratch, including operating models, roles, councils, standards, and adoption mechanisms.

You have a strong understanding of ERP-driven data and business processes, ideally in SAP environments; exposure to IFS is considered a plus. You are experienced in working within global or multi-country environments and navigating complex stakeholder landscapes.

You have a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without formal authority. You can demonstrate measurable improvements in data quality KPIs and the successful reduction of recurring data-related incidents through root-cause elimination and preventive controls.

Experience with data governance and data quality tooling (data catalogs, metadata management, DQ monitoring tools, workflow tools such as ServiceNow or Jira, and Power BI reporting) is highly valued. Certifications such as DAMA-DMBOK/CDMP or Lean/Six Sigma are a plus.

You are fluent in English; Dutch, German, or Swedish is considered an advantage.

What does Mediq offer?

At Mediq, you will join an international and purpose-driven healthcare organization with operations across multiple European countries. You will have the opportunity to shape a global data governance capability with direct impact on operational excellence, compliance, reporting reliability, and scalable growth.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, hybrid working based in the Netherlands, and flexibility to balance professional and personal life. You will work with senior stakeholders across business and IT and play a key role in strengthening Mediq’s data foundation for the future.

In this role, you will not just manage governance — you will build the structure that enables trusted data across the entire organization.
