Mediq is on its way to build world-class sourcing function across the organization under the leadership of the VP Sourcing and is now building the Sourcing Organization. The Strategic Sourcing Lead will have the opportunity to take part in this exciting journey and shape the future of sourcing at Mediq UK.
In addition, the Strategic Sourcing Lead acts as the sourcing lead for new business development opportunities within the cluster/market. The role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and onboarding suppliers and sourcing solutions that support business growth, market expansion, and strategic commercial initiatives
In this role you will be part of the UK cluster/country team and report directly to UK Sourcing Director.
Responsibilities:
Strategic sourcing & new business development
- Develop supplier/sourcing strategy for the assigned supply base
- Be an integrated sourcing partner to the cluster organisation and work closely with key stakeholders on sourcing needs and priorities
- Negotiate improved margin and payments terms.
- Conduct and execute contract negotiations, with favourable terms whilst reducing business risk.
- Identify margin improvement opportunities and present a business case to the internal stakeholders
- Manage cross functional supplier business reviews engaging all key stakeholders internally and externally.
- Lead sourcing activities for new business development opportunities, including supplier identification, capability assessment, commercial evaluation, and supplier onboarding.
- Act as the primary sourcing representative on cross-functional business development and growth initiatives, ensuring sourcing requirements, risks, and opportunities are incorporated into decision-making.
- Develop sourcing strategies that enable market expansion, revenue growth, and access to new products, suppliers, and technologies.
Contract implementation
- Develop together with the Sales account manager a supplier purchase price and margin overview per business area
- Communicate price updates and secure implementation into the systems
- Manage escalations and disputes on prices and conditions
Supplier relationship management
- Define, align and implement supplier classification with differentiated management approach.
- Own the Supplier Account Management for assigned Local Suppliers including internal stakeholders.
- Manage and review supplier performance alongside the supply chain team.
- Ensure compliance and risk management for assigned suppliers
- Where applicable leverage the Global sourcing team to execute the best terms with Global suppliers.
- Develop strategic supplier partnerships that support innovation, new business opportunities, and long-term commercial growth.
Revenue Enablement
- Lead sourcing support for strategic and exclusive partnerships, joint business development activities, and access to innovation, ensuring supplier capabilities align with commercial growth objectives.
- Partner with Sales, Category Management, and other cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate and execute sourcing solutions that support new customer opportunities, tenders, market expansion, and revenue growth.
- Work closely together with category management, finance and sales on price updates to customers to secure internal profit margins
- Support local sales/tender team with specific customer channel pricing, and Cross Boarder Trading opportunities
- Ensure all documentation supporting price adjustments are completed accurately and shared within the business.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with strong proven experience in international sourcing, procurement or supply chain management.
- Proficiency in using sourcing and procurement software and tools.
- Ability to unlock innovation from the supply base and bring it to our company first
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and state-of-the-art-best practices
- Ability to understand complex pricing model to ensure the best price is negotiated.
- Skilled in fact-based negotiations, contracting, supplier management and partner development
- Understanding of contracting process and contracting law
- Knowledge of relevant e-procurement tools, processes and systems
- Ability to persuade, negotiate, collaborate, communicate with individuals/ stakeholders/ governing bodies etc. at all levels
- Ability to communicate and negotiate with all external parties in a target-oriented, clear, precise and representative manner
- Skills in relevant MS Office tools
- Experience leading sourcing activities for business development, supplier onboarding, and commercial growth initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders in a matrix organization to deliver business growth objectives.
- Experience from a buy-for-resale industry is desired (distribution model)
- Experience in mid-size/large multinational companies with a matrix organization
- Examples of margin improvement success.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading sourcing workstreams for new business opportunities, market expansion initiatives, supplier onboarding, or strategic growth projects.
- Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams to deliver sourcing solutions that enable revenue growth and margin improvement.
