Transactional Finance Manager – Theobalds, Cheshunt

The Transactional Finance Manager will lead the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions, ensuring efficient, accurate and well-controlled transactional finance processes that support the wider business.

This role will play a pivotal part in the implementation of a new ERP system, acting as the finance lead for AR and AP throughout the project lifecycle - from process design and testing through to successful go-live and embedding new ways of working.

Alongside operational leadership, the role is responsible for driving improvements in working capital performance through effective management of receivables, payables and cash flow processes, while developing a high-performing team capable of delivering through periods of business change

Salary - £60,000

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach and develop the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams, creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
  • Provide clear leadership during periods of operational and system change, ensuring teams remain engaged and focused on delivering business objectives.
  • Drive high performance through effective objective setting, performance management and ongoing development.

 

ERP Implementation & Process Improvement

  • Act as the Finance lead for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable within the ERP implementation programme.
  • Work closely with project teams, Finance, IT and operational stakeholders to design, document and implement end-to-end transactional finance processes.
  • Ensure future-state processes are robust, efficient and aligned with best practice.
  • Lead the transition from legacy processes to new ERP ways of working, ensuring controls and governance remain effective throughout.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation, standardisation and continuous process improvement.

 

Working Capital Management

  • Own the operational delivery of working capital performance across Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • Drive reductions in overdue debt through proactive credit control strategies and effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure supplier payments are managed accurately and efficiently while optimising payment timing in line with agreed terms.
  • Maintain robust cash management processes for payment runs and cash receipts.
  • Monitor cash flow impacts arising from transactional finance activities and identify opportunities to improve cash conversion.

 

Operational Finance

  • Ensure all AP and AR processes are completed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with company policies and financial controls.
  • Maintain strong financial governance and compliance across transactional finance activities.
  • Ensure reconciliations, controls and month-end deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Develop service levels and performance standards across the transactional finance function.

 

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Produce and present KPI reporting relating to working capital performance for the Financial Controller.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics including:
      • Debtor Days (DSO)
      • Creditor Days (DPO)
      • Overdue debt
      • Cash collections
      • Payment performance
  • Analyse trends and provide recommendations to improve operational performance and cash flow.

 

What are we looking for? 

  • Experience leading Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end Order-to-Cash and Purchase-to-Pay processes.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting or leading the finance workstream of an ERP implementation, particularly across AR and AP.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end Order-to-Cash and Purchase-to-Pay processes.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
  • Experience mapping and improving end-to-end finance processes.
  • Proven track record of improving working capital performance through operational excellence.
  • Experience leading teams through organisational or systems change.
  • Strong people management and coaching skills.
  • Experience producing KPI reporting and performance analysis for senior finance leadership.
