Platform Lead
Platform Lead Team is responsible for leading the team that operates, maintains, and continuously improves Mediq’s composable e-commerce platform. The role ensures business continuity, platform reliability, operational performance, release readiness, and cost efficiency across a modular landscape consisting of front-end applications, middleware and integration services, SaaS products, Azure hosting components, and back-end connections to ERP and related business systems. The lead is expected to understand the full platform landscape and to be hands-on when needed in analysis, coordination, operational execution, and continuous improvement. As Platform lead you are part of the digital IT organization and working in close collaboration with the delivery/software development teams and the global IT infra department.

Key Responsibilities - What you will do?
- Platform operations and continuity: ensure the composable platform is stable, available, secure, scalable, and able to support business-critical e-commerce processes.
- Incident and problem management: own the operational incident process for the platform, coordinate priority 1 and 2 communication, align incidents with sprint work, drive root-cause analysis, and ensure structural improvements are followed up.
- Monitoring and observability: define and improve monitoring, alerting, synthetic checks, dashboards, operational reporting, and service health indicators for front-end, middleware, SaaS integrations, APIs, and Azure components. Also deliver these services in collaboration with the other digital platforms
- Azure hosting and DevOps: oversee environments, deployment pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery readiness, access management, and operational handover procedures. Also deliver these services in collaboration with the other digital platforms.
- Technical Release process: ensure that the release of the composable platform is performing without errors due to releasing itself. maintain release runbooks, coordinate multi-component releases, ensure rollback plans are available, and align with development teams, support teams, and suppliers.
- Cost and supplier management: monitor Azure, SaaS, and support costs, drive FinOps improvements, clarify responsibilities with suppliers and internal departments, and ensure services are delivered within agreed scope and service levels.
- Stakeholder communication: act as the operational contact point for customer contact, sales, IT infra, architecture, development teams, and external partners during incidents and platform improvements.
- Team leadership: lead, coach, and develop a platform team of approximately 3–4 direct reports, creating ownership, structure, knowledge sharing, and a continuous improvement mindset.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business IT, or a comparable level of working and thinking.
- Proven experience leading technical or operational teams, preferably in an international environment.
- Strong people-management skills, including coaching, prioritization, delegation, feedback, and team development.
- Hands-on experience with incident management, problem management, root-cause analysis, service continuity, and operational escalation processes.
- Good working knowledge of Azure Cloud, including Azure Portal, hosting concepts, environments, access management, monitoring, scalability, availability, backup, and disaster recovery principles.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Scrum or Agile delivery, sprint planning, backlog alignment, and release coordination.
- Understanding of composable commerce architecture, including front-end applications, middleware or BFF layers, APIs, SaaS products, integrations, and ERP connectivity.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tooling, including dashboards, alerts, synthetic monitoring, performance monitoring, logging, and operational reporting.
- Knowledge of IT service management processes such as incident, change, release, problem, availability, capacity, and service-level management.
- Ability to work with suppliers, internal IT departments, architects, developers, testers, product owners, sales, customer contact teams, and business stakeholders in an international context.
- Strong organizational sensitivity and the ability to communicate clearly across technical, operational, and business audiences.
- Experience with cost awareness, cloud cost monitoring, supplier follow-up, and operational improvement initiatives is preferred.
